Traditional Building, Period Homes, and the Traditional Building Conference Series are pleased to announce the 2016 Palladio Award winners. Each year, the Palladio Awards honor outstanding achievement in traditional design. The program recognizes both individual designers and design teams whose work enhances the beauty and humane qualities of the built environment, through creative interpretation or adaptation of design principles, developed through 2,500 years of the Western architectural tradition. The Palladio Awards are the first and only national awards program for residential and commercial/institutional projects which demonstrate excellence in traditional design.

The 2016 awardees include the following firms with a number of SAH members:
A Chapel for the Ages at Virginia Theological Seminary
New Design & Construction, Less Than 30,000 sq.ft.
Winner: Robert A.M. Stern Architects, New York, NY
Robert A.M. Stern Architects of New York, NY, is commissioned to design a “timeless” chapel for Virginia Theological Seminary.

Architectural Resources Group’s New Center At The Huntington
Public Spaces, Parks, Gardens, Streetscapes
Winner: Architectural Resources Group, Pasadena, CA
Architectural Resources Group creates a new eight-acre center as an entry to the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California.

HBRA Architects Restore the Charles Deering Library’s West Entry
Restoration & Renovation
Winner: HBRA Architects, Inc., Chicago, IL
Libraries are among the favorite building types at HBRA Architects Inc. – projects include the Bass and Beinecke Libraries at Yale and the Hale/Farrell Library at Kansas State University – so that affection may help explain why the firm’s restoration of the West Entry of the Charles Deering Library at Northwestern University has helped earn it a 2016 Palladio Award for Restoration and Renovation.
