CFP: Small Museum Association 2023 Conference - Curating a Culture of Care

Wilmington , United States

While the small museum workplace of the past was one of long hours and little compensation, the last three years have inspired many of us to reevaluate what we look for in a workplace. How do we find a work-life balance and still care for the cultural and historic resources that our institutions are entrusted with and serve our communities? And how can leaders at small museums empower their employees to find time for guilt-free self-care?

This year, the SMA conference will address the theme "Curating a Culture of Care."

The SMA Conference Committee is requesting that panels reflect the diverse communities that museums serve. SMA Conference Attendees tend to like practical sessions with roadmaps for implementation at their own sites.

Types of session proposals sought:
60-minute session — individual speaker, panel presentation, or round-table discussion
60 & 90-minute workshops — in-depth, experiential, hands-on learning
