The SAH Architectural Studies Affiliate Group is hosting this on-line discussion with graduate admissions personnel about supporting and advising undergraduates as they navigate the admissions process for professional design programs at the graduate level.
The program addresses the following questions. How prepared are you to support students applying to graduate professional programs in architecture, urban planning, and related fields? How do you advise them on what courses to take and activities to pursue? How can they identify and choose programs best suited to their needs? What kind of guidance can you offer them as they assemble their portfolios? And, perhaps most importantly, do you feel confident that you know what constitutes a strong application in the eyes of graduate admissions officers? For instance, what do admissions officers want to see in a portfolio? How do they assess the critical thinking skills that are central to a liberal arts education?
We will start with brief presentations from our panelists, including graduate admissions directors from leading architecture and urban planning programs: McLain Clutter (Michigan), Andrew Holder (Harvard), Justin Hollander (Tufts). There will be ample time for group discussion amongst attendees.
