CFP for March 21-23, 2024, conference of RSA. Save Venice Sessions on Byzantine influence on Venice and its Empire. Deadline for paper proposals is 08/01/23.

Given the extensive conservation projects Save Venice, Inc. has undertaken in Venice such as the churches of Santa Maria Assunta in Torcello and of Santa Maria e San Donato in Murano, as well as the Nicopeia icon in San Marco, Save Venice proposes to continue its groundbreaking investigations of this fundamental subject with one or more sessions at RSA in Chicago (21–23 March 2024). We welcome presentations covering new material about the enduring influence of Byzantium on the Venetian world. They can concern any time period and any medium, including architecture, sculpture, painting, manuscripts, as well as the trade in Greek icons and the movement of artists.

Please send your full name, current affiliation, paper title (15-word maximum), abstract (300-word maximum), PhD completion date (past or expected), keywords, and a 1-page non-narrative curriculum vitae to the organizers, Sarah Blake McHam (sarah.blake.mcham@gmail.com) and Patricia Fortini Brown (pbrown@princeton.edu).

Submission deadline is August 1, 2023. Notification of applicants will be by August 22, 2023.
