The International Conference on Architecture as Built Criticism will be held on 14, 15, 21, and 22 October 2023 at Tongji University. Join us with free attendance through Zoom.

The Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Architecture as Built Criticism, the International Committee of Architectural Critics CICA and Tongji University have the pleasure of inviting you to join this year’s international conference, to be held as a hybrid event at Tongji University on 14, 15, 21 and 22 October at the listed times in the attached programme.

Can buildings themselves express criticism? If so, how do they achieve it? To whom is this criticism addressed? How are they legible? How do these criticisms impact society and culture? How do architects, critics or historians read these forms of criticism?

Following the International Conferences on Architectural Criticism in October 2021, and on Architectural Quality in October 2022, this year’s conference presents papers that offer realized examples of architecture as built criticism.

The Scientific Committee, Dean Li Xiangning of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning as well as all the organizers of the Conference are looking forward to your participation.
