As we announced late in 2011, the SAH Board has endorsed moving the newsletter completely online to save on design, printing and postage expenses. In addition, because the print newsletter was so costly to produce, we could only publish it four times per year, which was not frequent enough. The new online newsletter will be published monthly and will take full advantage of hyperlinks and Web 2.0 communications. The new deadline for submitting material is by the first of every the month.
We hope you will send us your news as well as that of your institution, SAH Chapters, SAH Partner Organizations and other groups that focus on architecture, landscapes and urbanism. Likewise, we hope you will forward the SAH Newsletter to your colleagues, students, and your favorite organizations that promote history, preservation and design education.
If you would like to receive daily or weekly news about calls for papers, conferences, fellowships, exhibitions, and other time-sensitive opportunities, please also sign up for SAH Communities www.sahcommunities.groupsite.com. It is a place for sharing information and keeping up-to-date on what’s new in this multifaceted field we call architectural history. SAH has developed SAH Communities as an open and free resource for the benefit of all. Please tell your students and colleagues about SAH Communities, a gateway to timely news and opportunities in the world of architecture, landscape and urban history.
And just so you don’t think we live only in a cyber world, please plan to visit the SAH headquarters, Charnley-Persky House, when you’re next in Chicago. We welcome you to take a regular Wednesday or Saturday tour, bring your students for a seminar, or just stop in to say hello. You are always welcome.
We’d be glad for your feedback about the online SAH Newsletter and SAH Communities. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your suggestions psaliga@sah.org Thank you.
