Architectural Historians, Graduate Students, Architects, Preservation Officers, Landscape Historians and Landscape Architects are invited to submit proposals for SAH study tours and study days to be presented in 2013 and 2014.
Proposals of all types are welcome. The proposals will be reviewed and selected by the SAH Study Tour Advisory Committee and Officers of SAH with an eye toward creating a tour schedule that is both balanced and diverse in subject, time periods, and geographic coverage.
The SAH Study Tour Program consists of three levels:
Level One: Study Day – a single day with a single focus, usually museum archives and special exhibitions, a private home/estate or other sites that include behind the scenes visits not accessible to the general public. This is a no frills program. Destinations are open.
Level Two: Short Study Tour (formerly known as domestic study tour) – program that covers four to five days over a weekend to reduce the number of days away from work. This tour can be a broader topic than a study day and can be extensive in content. The tour will include exclusive access to some sites. Logistical arrangements coordinated with SAH staff. This tour would include local subject matter experts. Destinations are open.
Level Three: Long Study Tour (formerly known as international study tour) –program that covers 10-12 days and is extensive in content. This tour includes some local subject matter experts. Logistical arrangements coordinated with SAH staff. Destinations are open.
Please submit a description of the tour being proposed, a draft of the itinerary and a few images, a short bio and suggested dates. Only proposals from tour leaders willing to lead the proposed tour will be accepted.
Please submit the proposal no later than March 30, 2012 to:
