SAH Conference Welcomes Paul Goldberger
Paul Goldberger, Pulitzer Prize–winning author and contributing editor at Vanity Fair magazine, will be involved in two events at the SAH Conference in Buffalo, NY.
 Paul Goldberger  Buffalo City Hall Council Chambers, photo by David Schalliol | Goldberger will deliver the plenary address at the SAH awards ceremony, on The Public Responsibility of Architectural History, in the Common Council Chambers of Buffalo’s Art Deco City Hall on Thursday, April 11th. He will also participate in the roundtable discussion, focusing on the future of development in Buffalo, on Friday, April 12th. The roundtable will also feature Catherine Schweitzer, Executive Director of the Baird Foundation, and Robert Shibley, Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning, University at Buffalo. Goldberger, who the Huffington Post has called "the leading figure in architecture criticism," is now a Contributing Editor at Vanity Fair. From 1997 through 2011 he served as the Architecture Critic for The New Yorker, where he wrote the magazine’s celebrated “Sky Line” column. He also holds the Joseph Urban Chair in Design and Architecture at The New School in New York City. He was formerly Dean of the Parsons school of design, a division of The New School. He began his career at The New York Times, where in 1984 his architecture criticism was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Distinguished Criticism, the highest award in journalism. The Society of Architectural Historians is incredibly pleased to have Paul Goldberger participating in this year’s conference.
