William Tronzo (University of California, San Diego and affiliate of Università degli Studi Roma Tre) has been awarded a multi-year grant from the Getty Foundation for the project, “Framing the Medieval Mediterranean: Museums and Archaeology in National Discourse.” This project will bring together scholars and museum professionals from North Africa, the Middle East, Europe and America, in order to discuss their common and divergent aims, methodologies, approaches and techniques and the consequences of their field and institution-specific goals. The grant is part of the Getty Foundation’s Connecting Art Histories initiative, which aims to increase scholarly exchange among individuals in key international regions whose economic or political realities have prevented previous collaboration.
