Buildings of Texas Wins San Antonio Conservation Society Award

Buildings of Texas: Central, South and Gulf Coast has won a 2015 Publication Award from the San Antonio Conservation Society. The Society's Publication Awards recognize the authors of the best recently published books on Texas history. The volume is part of the Buildings of the United States series from the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH), a state-by-state documentation of important buildings across the United States, written by leading local and national scholars.

Published by University of Virginia Press in 2013, Buildings of Texas covers the Central, South and Gulf Coast regions and buildings in Austin, Corpus Christi, Houston and San Antonio. Gerald Moorhead, FAIA, an award-winning Houston architect, photographer, and writer, led the team of experts that compiled over 1,000 building entries documenting the region's most important and representative examples of architectural styles as well as works by world-renowned architects. 

In 2013, Buildings of Texas won the Texas Media Award from Preservation Texas for its comprehensive and expert scholarship on Texas' architectural heritage.

The San Antonio Conservation Society's 2015 Publication Awards will be presented at a luncheon on March 20, 2015, in San Antonio.
