 | Frank Lloyd Wright at MoMA Study Day Join curators and scholars at The Museum of Modern Art on June 2 for a one-of-a-kind, daylong preview of Frank Lloyd Wright at 150: Unpacking the Archive, a major exhibition on one of the most prolific and renowned architects of the 20th century. December is the perfect time to go to China when the trip is south of the Yangtze River. Travel in the warmth and sun of South China from Shanghai to China’s greatest beauty spots and gardens (Suzhou, Hangzhou, Yangzhou, and Ningbo), the great capital Nanjing, the commercial seaport Guangzhou (Canton) and off-the-beaten-track Huizhou and Guiyang, with long-time SAH member and Chinese architectural historian Nancy Steinhardt.

 | SAH/Mellon Author Awards SAH is now accepting applications for the 2017 SAH/Mellon Author Awards. Funded by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the awards are designed to provide financial relief to scholars who are publishing their first monograph on the history of the built environment. The application deadline is June 1, 2017.

 | SAH Announces Public Programming at Glasgow Conference SAH will present a Mackintosh Symposium, public architecture tours and a seminar on heritage and sustainability at its 70th Annual International Conference to be held in Glasgow, June 7–11. These public programs are designed to provide a platform for conference delegates from around the world to celebrate and study the conference’s host city and engage with the local community. Registration is open to the public now.

This includes the periods of colonialization, the British Raj in India, and independence. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellow My first few weeks in Japan have been filled with travels around Hokkaido, the northernmost island and largest of Japan’s forty-two prefectures, as well as some of the colder regions of Honshu. With this itinerary, I visited three of the snowiest cities in the world and this allowed me to experience some of the sites and events associated with Japan’s famous snow festivals.

| Current SAH Opportunities Call for Lesson Plans for SAH Archipedia: SAH is seeking educators to produce K-12 lesson plans for SAH Archipedia, an authoritative online encyclopedia of the built world published jointly by SAH and the University of Virginia Press. | SAH Chapter and Partner News Join SESAH in Lynchburg, Virginia, October 11-14, 2017, for its annual conference. For details, please visit sesah.org. Responses to the Call for Papers are due March 31. SESAH offers travel grants to offset the cost of attending the conference. Grants are awarded to up to three graduate students and one emerging professional employed in a federal, state, or local historic preservation office. Applications are available through the website. Leading construction historians and scholars gather for Construction History on the Frontier, the Construction History Society of America Members’ Meeting at the University of Washington, Seattle from July 20-22, 2017. Exploring construction history in the American West, with particular focus on Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, keynote speakers include Jeffrey Karl Ochsner (UW Seattle), Michael Lombardi (Boeing), Knute “Skip” Berger (Crosscut), and Jon Magnusson (MKA). Registration opens March 1, 2017. EAHN seeks a Proofreader and a Book Reviews Editor (post 1800) for its online open access journal, Architectural Histories. The application deadline is March 31, 2017. Society of Historians of Eastern European, Eurasian, and Russian Art and Architecture (SHERA) welcomes the new institutional member Rodovid Press from Kyiv Ukraine, specializing in books on Ukrainian art. The SHERA-sponsored double-session at 2017 CAA Annual Conference in NYC highlighted the research of emerging scholars. The 2017 Maya Semina Student Travel Grant was awarded to Maria Lanko, a PhD student, University of Aberdeen, for her paper presentation in the SHERA-sponsored session at CAA Annual Conference. The VRA annual conference will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, March 29-April 1. Registration is open and the full program is posted. Registration is also open for the 2017 Summer Educational Insitute (SEI) for Visual Resources & Image Management.
