 | Registration Open for Cuba Field Seminar SAH's 2018 Cuba Field Seminar is an ambitious immersion in the architecture, urbanism, and landscape of Cuba, covering territory from Havana in the west to Guantánamo, Cuba's eastern-most province. Registration is open and limited to 25 participants. A Study Program Fellowship is available for current graduate students and recent grads.

 | Nominations Open for 2019 SAH Publication Awards Every year, the Society presents five awards honoring the most distinguished publications in architectural history, urban history, landscape history, preservation, and architectural exhibition catalogues. The deadline to submit a nomination for the 2019 SAH Publication Awards is July 31, 2018.

 | Nominations Open for 2019 SAH Award for Film and Video The SAH Award for Film and Video was established in 2013 to recognize annually the most distinguished work of film or video on the history of the built environment. The deadline to submit a nomination for the 2019 SAH Award for Film and Video is July 31, 2018.

 | The Future of the Past: NEH XI Match for SAH Archipedia SAH has launched a campaign to raise $40,000 toward the NEH XI match for SAH Archipedia by August 31, 2018. All donations will be matched 1:1 by the grant, which will support making SAH Archipedia completely open access and redesigning the site.

 | SAH Award Field Trip Grants to ILASLA & Dade Heritage Trust SAH is pleased to announce recent grants to the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ILASLA) and Dade Heritage Trust to support field trip programs for underserved students. The grants are part of the SAH American Architecture and Landscape Field Trip Program, which funds design education and tour programs that give students the opportunity to experience architecture and landscapes firsthand.

 | Recap of SAH in Paris: Glass, Light and Structure Imagine, if you will, spending two-and-a-half days touring iconic Paris buildings with friends, colleagues, and a professor with both deep subject knowledge and a great sense of humor. Innovative uses of glass, light, and structure provided the conceptual framework for just such a remarkable SAH tour of Paris with Barry Bergdoll, the Meyer Schapiro Professor of Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University.

 | Sagrada Familia in the Making SAH has partnered with the Chicago Architecture Foundation to present a lecture on the Basilica de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona, one of the world's great buildings. Hear noted engineer Tristram Carfrae explain how architect Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece—under construction since 1882—will be completed with state-of-the-art practices.

| Digital Resources Page Updates We recently updated the Digital Resources page of the SAH website, which is designed to provide members and the public with useful links to a variety of online resources including the Society's digital publications, architectural archives, image collections, and digital technology projects. The page is a work in progress. As you explore the page, please let us know if we have missed any important digital resources or projects. Read More NHA Launches Study the Humanities The National Humanities Alliance recently launched Study the Humanities, a new website designed to help make the case for the value of studying the humanities as an undergraduate. The website aggregates available quantitative and qualitative data that make the case that the humanities help students succeed in a wide range of careers and provide benefits beyond the marketplace. | |||||||
| Current SAH Opportunities SAH/GAHTC Grants: In partnership with GAHTC, SAH is offering Research-to-Teaching Grants and Field Seminar Travel Grants. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Call for Nominations to the SAH Board: The SAH Nominating Committee seeks your nominations for five new SAH Board members who will begin their terms after the Providence annual conference in April 2019 and will serve until April 2022. The final slate of nominees should represent the diversity of the field of architectural history. Deadline August 1. Call for Nominations for SAH Fellows: The SAH Board of Directors seeks nominations for the 2019 class of SAH Fellows, those professionally active or retired individuals who have distinguished themselves by a lifetime of significant contributions to the field of architectural history. These contributions may include scholarship, teaching, service to SAH, or stewardship of the built environment. Deadline August 1. SAH Study Program Fellowship: This fellowship is available for the SAH Field Seminar to Cuba, December 1-14. Covers the single occupancy price of the tour package. Open to current full-time MA and PhD students and emerging professionals. Deadline August 3. SAH American Architecture and Landscape Field Trip Program: This program funds architecture and landscape field trips for underserved students in grades 3 through high school. | SAH Chapter & Partner News SESAH is seeking nominations for its 2018 Best of the South: Preserving Southern Architecture Award (due July 1) and 2018 Publications Awards (due July 15). The BOTS Award now includes “preservation education” as an award category. More information is available at sesah.org/opportunities.
