From time to time the Society of Architectural Historians issues policy statements on a variety of topics related to higher education, from SAH’s Core Values Statement to SAH’s Personal Conduct Policy. These are intended to outline SAH’s positions and policies. In addition, SAH is sometimes invited to be a signatory on a letter or statement written by a Constituent Member of the American Council of Learned Societies, of which SAH is a member. The topics range from a protest over taxing graduate school tuition waivers as income, to concern over moves to dismantle the structure of Turkish higher education.
In an effort to keep members informed about issues on which SAH has taken an official stand, SAH has created a new page on its website (in the About SAH section) called Advocacy where recent statements will be published. They are in addition to the many statements that the SAH Heritage Conservation Committee has issued on historic preservation issues of national and international consequence, which are posted on the Preservation Advocacy page.
