On July 31st of this year, the Society of Architectural Historians will celebrate the 80th anniversary of its founding at the 1940 summer session at Harvard University.
As we celebrate and remember the past 80 years of SAH’s growth and development, we also want to contemplate what SAH will look like in 20 years, when we will celebrate our 100th anniversary. To that end, at the upcoming SAH Annual Conference in Seattle, the SAH Board will discuss initiatives that can be realized in the next five years. Key to making decisions about SAH’s future will be the results of the SAH Data Project, a twenty-month project that will assess the status of the field of architectural history in higher education. The final report, which will be completed in early 2021, will provide hard data that will guide SAH's plans in the coming years. Following the SAH Annual International Conference in Seattle, look for announcements of activities and events to commemorate our 80th year.
As part of the 80th anniversary celebrations, everyone who contributes to the SAH 80th Anniversary Annual Fund, from October 1, 2019 through April 15, 2020, will have their name on the SAH Birthday Card to be displayed during the Seattle conference. Contributions to the Annual Fund provide SAH with critical unrestricted income to be used where it is most needed.
Donations of any size to the SAH 80th Anniversary Annual Fund are greatly appreciated and will be placed on the birthday card, but please consider a donation to reflect our 80 years: $80, $180, $280, $800, $1,800 and more.
