The Society of Architectural Historians invites members to apply for service on its award committees, fellowship committees, and additional committees.
Committee members must be current SAH members and will serve a one-year term (2020–2021). All committee members volunteer their services and, once appointed, are expected to maintain active and responsive participation during their term. Time frames of involvement for each committee are noted below.
Award Committees
Alice Davis Hitchcock Book Award Committee: 3 members
Antoinette Forrester Downing Book Award Committee: 3 members
Philip Johnson Exhibition Catalogue Award Committee: 3 members
Spiro Kostof Book Award Committee: 3 members
Elisabeth Blair MacDougall Book Award Committee: 3 members
Founders' JSAH Article Award Committee: 3 members
SAH Award for Film and Video Committee: 3 members
Committees for the SAH Publication Awards and the SAH Award for Film and Video adhere to the following schedule:
- June–August 2020: Books/films submitted for review
- December 31, 2020: Award decision made
- January 31, 2020: Award citation due
Fellowship Committees
Fellowship applications are made available to the committee one week after the submission deadline.
Edilia and Francois-Auguste de Montêquin Fellowship Committee: 3 members
- October 1, 2020: Fellowship applications due
- November 15, 2020: Decision made
H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship Committee: 3 members
- October 1, 2020: Fellowship applications due
- December 15, 2020: Decision made
HABS-SAH Sally Kress Tompkins Fellowship Committee: 3 members

Other Committees
Nominating Committee: 5 members
Charged with nominating and reviewing nominations for new board members.
- July 31, 2020: Nominations due
- September 1–30, 2020: Committee reviews nominations and deliberates
- October 15, 2020: Decision made
Development Committee: 6–8 members
The SAH Development Committee meets monthly by phone to strategize with SAH staff and leadership about how to raise new funding for priorities established by the SAH Board including programs, publications, special initiatives, and operations.
Budget and Audit Committee: 4 members
The SAH Budget and Audit Committee meets quarterly by phone to work with SAH staff and leadership to review proposed annual budgets, quarterly budget to actual reports, and draft audit reports.
Investment Committee: 4 members
The SAH Investment Committee meets quarterly by phone with SAH staff, leadership and investment advisors to review SAH Investment Policies and performance of the Society’s investments
Self-nominations should include a brief statement (no more than 150 words) describing your qualifications and experience and a CV (no more than 2 pages). You may apply for up to three committees but will be asked to serve on only one, if accepted. If you apply to serve on multiple committees, please indicate your preferred committee.
