Call for Nominations: JSAH Editorial Advisory Committee (2021–2025)

Jan 26, 2021 by SAH News

The Society of Architectural Historians invites nominations and self-nominations for two individuals to serve on the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians (JSAH) Editorial Advisory Committee for a term of four years starting May 15, 2021. JSAH features leading scholarship in the English language in all aspects of the history of the built environment. The committee provides expertise across the discipline’s chronological and geographic subfields.

The JSAH Editorial Advisory Committee advises the Journal’s editor and assists them in promoting the Journal to potential readers and authors, suggesting to the editor peer reviewers and acting as peer reviewers. Members of the Editorial Advisory Committee shall provide advice to the editor, who maintains final decision-making authority. The Committee will meet at least once a year with the editor at the Society’s Annual International Conference and by conference call periodically. Members of the JSAH Editorial Advisory Committee volunteer their services to the Society without compensation.

Candidates must be current SAH members, may not serve simultaneously on the Society’s Board of Directors, and may not be serving as an editor or on the editorial board of a similar, scholarly journal that focuses on the history of the built environment. Members may not publish their own work in the Journal during the term of service. Ideal candidates have published substantially in the field and may come from any of the Society’s constituencies in academia, preservation, museum work, or independent scholarship; institutional affiliation is not required.

SAH is committed to creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization and welcomes nominations and self-nominations of social minorities and people of color, including but not limited to:

  • LGBTQ members of the Society
  • Contingent faculty and independent scholars within the Society
  • Scholars and members studying issues related to the Global South
  • Members with disabilities
  • Members who are from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups including, but not limited to, those of African, Indigenous, Asian, and Latin descent
  • Members interested in women's history, environmental justice, inter-racial, post-colonial/colonial settler or other social justice issues

Nominators should ascertain their nominee’s willingness to serve before submitting a name.

Please send a statement describing the nominee’s or your own qualifications for appointment, a CV, and contact information to Beth Eifrig at beifrig@sah.org by February 28, 2021.
