Minnesota and the study of the built environment lost a key advocate this spring with the passing of Denis P. Gardner, National Register historian for the state of Minnesota. In addition to Denis’ important work in Minnesota (which you can read at the links below), he also penned two Minnesota entries for SAH Archipedia on the Kern Bridge and the Lanesboro Stone Dam. There will be a memorial service for Denis in the L’Etoile du Nord vault (room B015) at the Minnesota State Capitol on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 am. My sincere condolences to Denis’ family, friends, and colleagues.
