Like so many of you, we are heartsick at the death of Pauline Saliga, who served as SAH Executive Director with great distinction for twenty-seven years. At the same time, we are committed to staying on track with the all-important task of identifying her successor. We feel sure Pauline—who always put the well-being of the Society first—would approve.
In the last eight weeks, a great deal has happened, including finalizing the position profile and distributing it widely. We are grateful to those of you who made the effort to share the profile with colleagues in your professional networks. In addition, the team at Isaacson, Miller (IM) has undertaken outreach of their own, talking both with prospects (those who might be interested in the job themselves) and also with sources (those who know the field well and can suggest prospects). As of September 16, they had reached out to some 225 people.
The committee is beginning to review the resumes of active prospects and sharing feedback with the IM team on the kind of experience and background that we would like to see in our next executive director. This initial review is intended to inform the ongoing work of building a diverse and robust candidate pool. It is not too late for you to encourage promising candidates to apply though the Isaacson, Miller website: https://www.imsearch.com/8617. You can also send their names to Jeff Kessner or Kelly McLaughlin at Isaacson, Miller through that same website.
As always, if you have questions or concerns, please write to us at SAHEDSearch@sah.org.
