The ATCH (Architecture Theory Criticism History) Research Centre invites Expressions of Interest for the Visiting Fellows Program 2022. The Visiting Fellows Program supports short term residencies of up to one month for scholars to work on innovative research concerned with the history, theory, and criticism of architecture. ATCH Visiting Fellows Program 2022 – Call for Expressions of InterestThe ATCH (Architecture Theory Criticism History) Research Centre invites Expressions of Interest for the Visiting Fellows Program 2022. The program welcomes applications from Australian and international scholars who are carrying out critical research in architecture.ATCH is located within the School of Architecture at The University of Queensland (UQ), in Brisbane, Australia. The Centre supports innovative and interdisciplinary research on the history, theory, and criticism of architecture. Architecture and its place within a larger history of culture and ideas is a strong focus within the Centre. Bringing together Research Fellows, Postgraduates and Academics from UQ’s School of Architecture, the Centre offers a stimulating and rich environment for enquiry and debate. An active program of seminars, lectures, symposia, workshops, and exhibitions is run throughout the year. For a full list of people, past Fellows and recent events please see ATCH Website.About the Visiting Fellows ProgramThe Visiting Fellows Research Program supports short term residencies of up to one month for scholars to work on innovative research concerned with the history, theory, and criticism of architecture. Projects that overlap with ATCH priority research themes will be favoured, and collaborative outcomes with current ATCH scholars are encouraged. Priority research areas for the Centre in 2022-2023 include:
Digital cultural heritage
Museums and material / digital collections management
Architecture, exhibitions, and archives
Modernism in the non-Western world
Architecture in policy and governance
Heritage and the value(s) of architecture as a matter of culture
In 2022, ATCH will offer up to six Fellowship positions for dates between 1 July 2022 and 30 April 2023. Fellowships for international scholars are dependent on visa approval by the Australian Government, and scheduling is suggested for late 2022 or early 2023 to allow for visa processing. The program welcomes applicants at all career stages, but particularly encourages proposals from early- and mid-career scholars. Visiting Fellowships are not open to postgraduate students.The Visiting Fellows Research Program will provide a return airfare to Brisbane and a workspace within the Centre. All Fellows will have access to UQ libraries, including the Fryer Library and Architecture and Music Library. Support for accommodation may also be available depending on the applicant’s financial circumstances and the duration of the stay. Visiting Fellows will be required to present their research in a public lecture, participate in seminars and conferences organised during their residency, and contribute to HDR events.
