The Association for Preservation Technology’s (APT) Technical Committee on Documentation (TC-Doc) in conjunction with the APT Western Great Lakes Chapter (APTWGLC), the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance (MPA) and the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee School of Architecture and Urban Planning (UWM SARUP) is pleased to present a Documentation Workshop in Milwaukee. The workshop will be a two day in-person event focused on the hands-on education and demonstration of various documentation technologies used in the architecture, engineering and construction industry, especially in the context of preserving our historic environments.
DAY 1 Will be held at UWM and will cover:
background and theory of documentation including the HABS/HAER/HALS program; a laser scanning documentation and point cloud processing;
360-degree cameras and the creation of virtual tours;
UAV and photogrammetry documentation; and
a special architect’s toolbox session that will present low-cost supplemental documentation tools.
DAY 2 Will be held in the field at various sites that have undergone or are actively undergoing documentation work among and near the historic Pabst campus. The documentation tools discussed on Day 1 will be demonstrated in a hands-on manner at various sites including Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church which is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
This documentation workshop will offer continuing education units (CEU), as well as connect and provide networking opportunities for professionals in the industry by means of a reception at UWM. Economical lodging options will be offered through the University housing program and some meals will be provided throughout the workshop days.
