The Art Glass Forum | New York invites submissions by April 7 for short papers to be presented at its annual Emerging Scholars Lecture on June 13, exploring the history of glass as an artistic medium. Proposals are welcome from current and recent graduate students as well as young professionals for a 20-minute illustrated lecture sharing new research and discoveries.
Presentations will be made via Zoom on the evening of June 13 to the public and membership of the Art Glass Forum | New York. The group's members include gallerists, collectors, auction house specialists, authors and museum curators. Recent speakers' topics at the Emerging Scholars event have ranged from discoveries about glassmakers in the ancient Middle East through forgotten Gilded Age stained-glass designers and 20th-century modernist glass experiments.
Presenters will receive a $100 honorarium and a complimentary one-year membership to the AGF | NY. Deadline is midnight on April 7, 2023, for a one-page topic abstract and CV (two pages maximum) emailed to artglassforumny@gmail.com. Decisions will be announced by April 14.
The AGF | NY (artglassforumny.org) was originally founded as the New York Metropolitan Glass Club in 2000 by glass enthusiasts passionate about this extraordinary medium. A 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, it encourages the study and appreciation of glass through lectures and other public programs.
