MNSAH member Jonathan Leck has arranged for his friend and mentor, Professor Jim Dennis, retired art history professor, UW-Madison, to present a lecture on modern architecture on Saturday, April 15, from 12:15-2:00 p.m. at Nokomis Library, 5100 34th Avenue South, Minneapolis. The lecture is titled:
"Post Prairie-style Modernism as initiated by Wright; converted to Bauhaus extremism by Gropius; relocated to Chicago by Mies van der Rohe; and culminated in two Art Museums: the Guggenheim in New York City and the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin"
Professor Dennis not only has extensive academic knowledge of the field but has owned a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for over 40 years, the Jacobs House in Madison, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
No registration needed and the lecture is free and open to the public.
