Call for Contributions - International Conference on Architecture as Built Criticism
Following the International Conferences on Architectural Criticism in October 2021, and on Architectural Quality in October 2022, this year's conference seeks papers that offer realized examples of architecture as built criticism. Papers will be presented in October 2023 along with keynote lecturers Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu, Tosin Oshinowo, Al Borde, and Juhani Pallasmaa.

Call for Contributions
Can buildings themselves express criticism? If so, how do they achieve it? To whom is this criticism addressed? How are they legible? How do these criticisms impact society and culture?How do architects, critics or historians read these forms of criticism?
Following the International Conferences on Architectural Criticism in October 2021, and on Architectural Quality in October 2022, this year's conference seeks papers that offer realized examples of architecture as built criticism.
Abstracts
Abstracts (max. 500 words) should outline a definition of architecture as built criticism and name one case study. Abstracts should be submitted to icabc.abstract@gmail.com
Conference
The selection to the conference is in two stages: first, the acceptance of the abstract; second, authors will develop their abstracts into draft papers. Based on these papers, authors will be invited to speak in one of four sessions together with four selected keynote lecturers during the hybrid conference 14–15 October 2022, hosted by the School of Architecture, Tongji University, Shanghai, China.
Publication
As with the first two conferences, the conference papers are intended to be published in a book by Park Books of Zurich.

Conference Format
The hybrid format of the four-session conference allows for active debate between the audience and lecturers. Presentations will be concentrated to allow for ample discussion time. Besides the four keynotes, there will be between 12 to 16 short papers. The entire conference will be recorded and placed on Youtube. The conference language will be English.
