Finissage: Architectures of Order (Darmstadt/Frankfurt a.M., 2-10. Nov 23)

How is knowledge about architecture ordered and how is knowledge influenced by the spatial order of collections? What are the images and roles associated with the architectural profession and what are the implications of such images for which architectural positions are filled by people of which gender? In which ways is the design of architecture ordered and what is the relevance of digital tools for the design of architecture? Since 2020, the interdisciplinary research cluster “Architectures of Orders” explored these and other questions from a variety of perspectives. To wrap up the project, participating researchers from field ranging from architecture, sociology, history, and media studies to legal history will present their findings in a series of exhibitions and events.

"Architectures of Order" is an interdisciplinary research project (2020-2024) undertaken by the Goethe University Frankfurt and the Technical University of Darmstadt, with the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum as associated partners. Comprising 26 members, the project is concerned with an investigation of architecture as a cultural practice of ordering that manifests aesthetically, materially, spatially, and discursively, as well as epistemologically.
